Salisu Romo was born to the family of Late Mal. Abdullahi Romo on Monday, 29th January, 1963; in the town of Romo, in the old Yabo Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
His education career started at the age of Five (5), when his father was the Headmaster of Romo Primary School, in Tambuwal District. He was enrolled in Primary School in the early age of six (6) years from 1971-1977 where he proceeds to Government Teachers College Dogon Daji from 1977-1982.
He went to Kaduna Polytechnic from 1987-1999, where he obtained:A National Diploma (ND)in Management Studies. In 1991-1992 he obtained a Ordinary National Diploma (OND’) in Business Administration and Management at Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa. Also from 1992-1994, he bagged a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business Administration from Kebbi State Polytechnic Birnin Kebbi; and in the year 2000 he obtained a Masters’ degree in Business Administration at Usmanu Danfodiyo University (UDUS) Sokoto.
Salisu started his working career in 1982 with the Sokoto State Government under Ministry of Commerce and Industries as Trade Assistant to the rank of Assistant Chief Commercial Officer.
During his working career with the State Ministry of Commerce he served in various adhoc committees such as:
Secretary, Sokoto State Petroleum Products Monitoring Committee,
Financial Secretary, Sokoto State Joint Domestic Trade Fair.
It was in 2005, Salisu joined the services of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI):
