ZONAL DIRECTOR NATIONAL BOARD FOR TECHNOLGY INCUBATION (NBTI) ZONE B (NORTH WEST)

MR. SALISU ROMO

Salisu Romo was born to the family of Late Mal. Abdullahi Romo on Monday, 29th January, 1963; in the town of Romo, in the old Yabo Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

His education career started at the age of Five (5), when his father was the Headmaster of Romo Primary School, in Tambuwal District. He was enrolled in Primary School in the early age of six (6) years from 1971-1977 where he proceeds to Government Teachers College Dogon Daji from 1977-1982.

He went to Kaduna Polytechnic from 1987-1999, where he obtained:A National Diploma (ND)in Management Studies. In 1991-1992 he obtained a Ordinary National Diploma (OND’) in Business Administration and Management at Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa. Also from 1992-1994, he bagged a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business Administration from Kebbi State Polytechnic Birnin Kebbi; and in the year 2000 he obtained a Masters’ degree in Business Administration at Usmanu Danfodiyo University (UDUS) Sokoto.

Salisu started his working career in 1982 with the Sokoto State Government under Ministry of Commerce and Industries as Trade Assistant to the rank of Assistant Chief Commercial Officer.

During his working career with the State Ministry of Commerce he served in various adhoc committees such as:
Secretary, Sokoto State Petroleum Products Monitoring Committee,
Financial Secretary, Sokoto State Joint Domestic Trade Fair.

It was in 2005, Salisu joined the services of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI):

Whilst in NBTI he served in various capacities at different times as:

  • Centre Manager of Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) Sokoto Sokoto State.
  • Zonal Director, NBTI North West Zonal Office, Kano to date.

 

He is a Member Institute of Industrialists and Corporate Administrators of Nigeria (FIICA);

He attended several local and international trainings within and outside Nigeria such as:

  • International training on Technology Transfer and Commercialisation in OIC Member States: The role of Tech-Mart; in Tehran, I.R of Iran organised by Inter-Islamic Network on Science and Technology Parks (INSTP), the OIC Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) Co-sponsored by Islamic Development Bank (IDB).

 

  • International Training Programme on Promoting Innovation & Entrepreneurship through Incubation; Sponsored by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India under Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) & Special Commonwealth Assistance for African Programme (SCAAP) held at EDI, Ahmedabad, India.

 

  • Technology Management Forum for Directors of Science and Technology for Development in Nigeria; organised by National Centre for Technology Development South-South Office; Held in the Conference Hall of Mirage Hotel in Calabar;

 

  • Training on Science and Technology Project Management; Organised by National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM), Abuja Office.

 

  • International Capacity Building Programme for Business Incubation Managers; organised by Asia Pacific Incubation Network (Supported by Info-Dev, World Bank & DST, Government of India).

 

  • International Course on “Eliminating Rural Poverty: the Israel Development Experience organised by the Negev Institute for Strategies of Peace and Development, Israel.

 

  • 3 Days Zonal Stakeholders’ Sensitisation Workshop on Technology Incubation Programme in Nigeria; organised by the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) in collaboration with National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

 

  • Management Express Breakfast Meeting on Brand Management: Setting yourself Apart organised by the British Council in Nigeria.

 

  • National Sensitisation workshop on Entrepreneurship Development in Nigerian Universities; organised by the National Universities’ Commission in Collaboration with National Board for Technology Incubation.

 

  • Training programme on Managing Technology Incubation: Concepts, Mechanisms and Practice Oganised by Technopol Consulting and National Board for Technology Incubation (FMST).

 

  • Workshop on Reforms of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology (FMST) and its Parastatals organised by Global Strategic Research Limited (GSRL).

 

  • Singapore Turkey Joint Training Programme on SME Development and Entrepreneurship 8-12th July 2019.

 

  • Inter-Islamic Network on Science and Technology Park (INSTP) 11th – 19th October, 2017.

 

  • Interactive Forum with Federal Ministry of Science for her Parastatals.
